Best Of
Iron Realms Open Source Mudlet GUI
Hello, Starmourners!
I am pleased to announce the inception of a new project targeting the second largest userbase in IRE (after Nexus): Mudlet!
With initial help from the Mudlet community (and a special shout out to Vadi), we have created the framework for an open source Mudlet gui!
The intention of this GUI is to mimic, as much as possible, the functionality provided by our Nexus client. To-date, we have the GUI Windowing framework, but not implemented the internals of any of the tabs. That's where the community comes in!
You can find the project here! Fork the project, add functionality, and then create a pull request! After submission, your pull request will be reviewed (currently, by me, but tentatively by other members of IRE as well).
If you implement functionality outside of the functionality available in Nexus, your pull request may be rejected - our goal is to have a package that lets people jump into the game, but not give them a particular advantage over out-of-the-box Nexus users.
Once the project has a good amount of functionality implemented, it will be available for automatic installation via an in-game command.
If you have any questions, feel free to post here, open tickets on the project, or email me at eoghan (at) imperian (dot) com.
Happy coding!

Re: What do we want? Letters/Datashards. When do we want them? As soon as possible, please.
I noticed we seemed to have gotten bumped off the recents. Tragedy! Let me fix that by adding another super neat (in my opinion!) idea for the free-form writing thing.
Customisable Domains!
Dynasty e-mail domains. So, if the email option is implemented e-mails would display sort of like an IRL email when you review them and it would be cool if you could set your domain using the CUSTOMIZE command tree.
Example: CUSTOMIZE DOMAIN CELESTINE, CUSTOMIZE DOMAIN OMNI (omni being like a gmail equivalent - something everyone can use even if they don't have access to a faction or dynasty domain)
But dynasty's could unlock their own domain at certain amount of members. Overall, the emails would be something like this:

Re: Quotes
A nightstalker mauls you with a devastating swipe of its claws.
You collapse to the ground, killed by a nightstalker.
A polished bezoar, a flask of golden ichor, a hunk of oozing flesh, a flat
curving bone, and a sheet of chitin fall from your lifeless hands.
[Mindsim]: You drop to level 29, feeling a commensurate reduction in your might.

Development Updates - January 22 2019
We've been rolling along at a breakneck pace for the past couple of weeks, polishing systems, balancing classes, and improving life in Starmourn! If you've not been keeping up-to-date with the Updates board in-game, here's some of the highlights:
- Numerous updates to the economy system have been put in! From gathering gasses and asteroids to refining and manufacturing these raw resources into salable goods on the open market - we've improved everything.
- Area polishing and playability improvements everywhere, with the team doing a pass on all of the level 50 - 75 areas! New dangerous creatures, expanded areas, and general QOL updates to make the higher level experience even better!
- The most recent class balancing pass is underway, with BEASTS, Scoundrels, and Nanoseers receiving updates and tweaks, and Engineers and Fury being released in the coming days! Naturally, class balancing and improving is never "finished", but the classes are really lining up, numbers-wise!
What's coming next, you may ask?
- As mentioned above, Engineers and Furies will be getting their balancing passes, with adjusted abilities, fixes, and general improvements.
- The economy still serves as a primary focus, we're going to add some new non-ship elements that work with, and rely on, the economy and production system.
- A new bounty hunter system has been designed, and coding begins on this new feature! Players become mercenaries and carry out hits out on other players (as revenge for PK deaths). Some really cool thematic and mechanical systems in play here that will shake things up!
- We're starting on phase 2 designs for Cosmpiercers, adding in a bunch of new elements that will bring your faction's combined skillsets (including hacking, piloting, PVE and PVP) together when liberating these ancient artifacts for your side.

Re: Lets talk about Nanoseers abilities. Nanoseer General
Matlkael said:Here's a couple more test strategies for Nanoseer bashing.
Pointzero -> Freeze (using Negation as interrupt). Stat build is full Lifeforce and Regen, then 110 Psyche. TTK is a surprising 33s including the pointzero prep.

Another Pointzero -> Freeze setup, but this time Eyestrike is the interrupt and Frenzy is prepped. TTK of 39s.
https://ada-young.appspot.com/pastebin/4ysXsa_4
Negation seems to be the big winner in the negation vs eyestrike debate.
Trying out Pointzero -> Multistrike -> Freeze. Same stat setup. TTK at 39.
https://ada-young.appspot.com/pastebin/jKt3RoAa
* My trigger fired up eyestrike before I could manual negation
All still pale in comparison to other classes.
Looked up what you were doing, seems you had a level 50 weapon at level 63 and no points invested in the affecting stat - that's going to skew results a lot.
Anyway - we're checking the DPS and time-to-kill numbers continuously (real numbers from player activity, not theorycrafting), and right now Nanoseer PvE is roughly on par with most other classes. The before-fight preps were adding some extra time, the latest changes should hopefully address that - if not, we'll tweak further.

Re: Thanks for the RP! Vol. 1.
Some specific shout outs-
To @Vaxis, who has been an utter delight and the best RP partner I could have asked for. I've been having a lot of fun with you. I hope it keeps being fun for a long time yet!
To @Zah - you're interesting! I can tell that you've put in the work and thought your backstory through, and the way it reflects out in the big and the little things your character does are touches that go neither unnoticed nor unappreciated. Please RP more with me! I welcome it!
To the Eyrlocks in general, but @Cal and @Mattias in particular - I am seriously impressed by how much you do with so little. The style of your RP is very laconic and fast-paced, and adjusting to it was a challenge that I enjoyed. You bring so much flavor to the game, and the fact that you swing it with the minimal presentation I've seen such far is a seriously admirable feat. I'd love more RP with you all.
(And @Revelin - you play such an adorable character and I'd include you above except for recent RP.)
To @Zhulkarn, who so far has balanced the difficult task of promoting interest in PK with making it feel like it's grounded in the world. I enjoyed the way you handled it. Thanks for making CA more combat-friendly!
To @Jerrax - we need to RP more! I love the way you threw the Redeemer security escort at me, and how it mutated into this entire running gag that comes up whenever we run into each other.
To the V'els - best dynasty. Best mood. Thanks for doing your collective thing.

Re: The Ideas Thread
Also damage type. I never know what kind of damage I'm taking in PvE and it makes deciding whether or not to upgrade armour difficult.
