Re: Death penalty
This is a game, not a job. If I can't ever get a foothold and have to grind constantly to afford to play the rest of the game, I'll lose interest, and I doubt I'm alone in that.

Usable junk!
You: Nanotech Swarm -> a glitch-riddled security robot.
Damage Dealt: 181 cellular
A skitter of blue-white electrical energy crawls over a glitch-riddled security robot's broken form before it falls silent.
You have slain a glitch-riddled security robot.
You salvage a screen-printed tank top and an aluminum can filled with carbonated Volt cola from the lifeless remains.
...
...
drink can
You take a drink from an aluminum can filled with carbonated Volt cola.
Bubbles tickle your nose and a surge of energy races through your veins as you drink the syrupy, sugary beverage.
...
I'm suddenly sad that I've sold off countless, unexplored items of junk, such as the 'unused prophylactic'.

Re: Appreciation Thread
Just wanting to repeat what others have said here. I was excited about Starmourn and it has lived up to expectations. Looking forward to the future and how it evolves. Well done, Starmourn team!
Non-combat options
I would like to suggest that gas scooping be an initial skill like autopilot.
My primary reason for coming to Starmourn was the industry aspects (Mining/manufacturing/capitalism). But it feels completely inaccessible to me, the incursions are very frustrating for me and other peaceful players (yes, there are a few of us). It has been my experience that when I actually manage to reach an incursion in time, there is always someone else already there; killing everything (including kill stealing) and in some cases they also attack ME. After experiencing this time and time again and making zero progress in my captaincy skill, I have given up on incursions all together as they are simply too competitive, difficult and stressful for me (someone that only wants to mine and make things). I feel that gas mining should be available at captaincy level 1 like autopilot. Or, maybe we should receive captaincy experience for discovering new sectors/zones/docking at new stations etc... I think the incursions could be fun if I were a combat-oriented player; but I'm an industry-oriented player that is now sitting in my docked ship participating in politics because I feel I cannot progress...
I feel stuck - I just want to start my mining/manufacturing career.

Re: Usable junk!
QoL request: please give as a way to tag junk as nonjunk so we can avoid selling the bits we want to play with, or dropping them on logout. Pretty please.

Fury Stances Map
I was playing on an alt and I decided to map out the Fury Stances into a visible web map to help those learning. It might later get changed (for balance stuff) and I suspect that you can start out attacks from Symmetry (and that Assault might be able to prematurely end combos to reset back to Symmetry)
It's not the prettiest, but it gets the job done.

Re: The Ideas Thread
ETA: This was implemented yesterday! Thank you so much, Team Admin! You guys are the bomb.

Please please please.
Can we get some kind of warning when attempting to DOCK a ship at a station while your gas scoops are deployed? Just a check that requires input. Something like...
"Your ship currently has its scoops deployed; if you dock your ship now, the scoops and their contents will be lost. Type AGREE to dock anyway."
I learned my lesson and will never make this mistake again (although I am admittedly very forgetful), but something to help prevent others from making the same costly error in future would be great.

Re: The Ideas Thread
It would be really neat if INCURSIONS LIST could be listed in descending order or proximity. So, the nearest one (based on your STARCHART) to you would be at the top of the list.

Re: Tradeskills
Designs operate a bit differently here, if you put your design up for use, and people download it, you get royalties for it - so popular designs will actually make you money. So there's a higher starting cost there to offset that. As with all things in the game though, costs (especially for things priced in marks) are very likely to change in the coming weeks as we get better baselines for real world mark generation.

Re: Roleplay (Insanity) - Who is Your Character
Obviously lessons are a game term that refers to what skills you unlock. We know this, and we know we shouldn't be talking about OOC terms in public channels.
I think there are far more important things to focus our energy on than the example given though. Blatant OOC stuff is very jarring, I agree. But a novice Fury saying they need more lessons seems like a trivial thing to be upset about. They don't need piano lessons, they obviously want lessons on Fury things. Similar examples: I'm studying Biochemistry but need to go to more lectures before post-translational modification makes sense. I'm studying piano but I need more lessons and practice before I can play Bach. I'm a Fury but need more lessons in swordfighting before I can execute some of those complex maneuvers. That's hardly as immersion breaking as "who has a nexus autobasher for beast I can use lol"
We'll make more meaningful progress if we don't sweat the small stuff, I think.
Also "I went biochem because I didn't want to take inorganic chem." Some people do speak this way, especially if IC you aren't terribly grammatically savvy.
Instead of ridiculing people (even with their names omitted) on the forums, how about just leading by example and staying obviously IC ourselves? Maybe interacting with these people and showing them how we can express certain ideas in more IC language. For many people, this is their first experience with this and it is way healthier for the game to provide a nurturing environment than a ridiculing one.
