HELP ROLEPLAYING has just been added to clarify what we expect here!
To roleplay means to play a role. In the context of Starmourn, roleplaying means that you play as your character, similar to acting on a stage or in a film. Roleplaying is encouraged, but not required, in Starmourn. However, in order to maintain an immersive experience, we expect you to stay in-character (IC) as much as possible and not seek to disrupt other peoples' experience with out-of-character talk. What's the difference between roleplaying and staying in-character? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Staying in-character (IC) is mostly about NOT being out-of-character (OOC). Talking about real life, other games, the settings in your MUD client, etc. are all examples of being OOC. Please stay IC on public channels and in public places. You can be OOC in tells or in less public places, as long as the other people around you don't mind. Specific places to stay IC -------------------------- - shouts/yells - news posts - faction tells - dynasty tells - crew channels - some clans

Indeed. I am so in love with this game already and there's so many little details that are just fantastic. (Spicer, for one...) Sure there's been some crazy moments, like the line to kill the slaver... people getting stuck in the intro. Those are happening though because there's SO MANY people.
So thank you all for bringing us this game, and thanks to everyone playing it and and sticking around through the rough patches. It's going to be amazing.

Scatterhome Calls Channel
Is there any chance we could get a separate Scatterhome channel for debating calls? A number of people have said they'd support this. It'd take a lot of weight off the main faction channel, allow people to silence it if they're oh so tired of politics, and help keep the eternal, perpetual bickering at least divided into -kinds- bickering to make it easier to sort through.

Appreciation Thread
So I'm super happy about this finally happening. And I know we've all had frustrations but I thought it would be nice for us to express gratitude for all the hard work that's gone into this. So fuckin' thanks @Aurelius @Tecton and all the beta testers and all the other players for making this great. I'm excited to actually have the attention to devote to Starmourn tomorrow.

Launch Day
After 18+ hours straight, I've gotta call it quits for the day. I thought I'd put a few notes up on things before I sleep for a few hours.
1) Wow - what a turnout! You guys came out in droves to play, and for that we're eternally grateful! I know things were not as smooth as anyone wanted (especially us), but such is the way with beta launches and almost 500 people on at once. As a MUD game in 2018, that's awesome to see.
2) As I just touched on, there were some definitely rough patches, and we'll continue to improve on those with every waking hour. I do apologise if getting stuck or another bug did leave a sour taste in your mouth. We hope that you'll stick with us in the coming days, months, years as Starmourn evolves and grows!
3) Things that we're prioritizing very highly at the moment:

- Learning - one-at-a-time learning was supposed to only be for players, but somehow it didn't work like that and it's a bit of a bear to fix. Will spend a couple of hours tomorrow getting this fixed up so there's no waiting in line to learn things.
- Quests - A few quests, especially the slave quest on Gallen, just aren't ideal for the volume of people we had on, we'll be fixing these up to be less tedious.
- Intro sticking points - We've nabbed a bunch of these tonight, but I'm sure there's more that you guys will find, we'll be improving these
- Accessibility issues - We'll be adding some new accessibility options for our screenreader users to make things like completely gagging the prompt easier.
Again, thank you for your patience and understanding as we iron these things out. And I'll see you in-game in a few hours!

Stuck in the intro?
If you were one of the unlucky many that got stuck at the beginning of the intro, this has been resolved, but the fix requires you to delete and restart your character. We've added a "DELETEME" command that you can quickly run to remove your character from the game. You can then recreate with the same or a new name!
I do apologize for the inconvenience of the whole situation, wasn't how we wanted to start the game for you guys either! We hope you'll stick with us, it'll be worth it!

Made another sketch since I changed my mind about my character's race. Introducing Borok, Krona Fury. I have a really hard time with bare arms/muscles, and it's still a work in progress, but I wanted to share it before going to bed.
