Re: Cosmpiercers: Problems and an Ambitious Proposal
Excited to see how the vulnerability timers work out! We shall see!
One qol thing: Could we get Cosmpiercer List sorted by date, so that we can more readily see the next Cosmpiercer coming out of vulnerability?
Re: Announcements post #56: Promo chests, promo market and hoverbikes!
I would like to request that we be able to LOOK at items on the promo market list before buying - There were a few items I was considering purchasing, but I couldn't be sure if I really wanted them or not because I couldn't see exactly what they looked like, or how they functioned.
PROMO MARKET LOOK <ID> to bring up the description?

What we're working on - Faction Engagement Missions
May is halfway done and we've been hard at work with the systems we promised during our Development Update and in the Roadmap. We've completed the Modding overhaul, released shopfront improvements, done some tweaking to Cosmpiercers (still more to go there, that will be a lengthy process), a new event is unfolding around the Bushraki of Oldtown and more.
Now let's talk a bit about one of the systems currently under development: Daily Faction Tasks.
The revamped station missions are now working in a way that is a lot closer to our vision and bring about a sense that your actions help the community (faction, in this case) that you are a part of. But we believe we can do more with this concept. Our Faction tasks system will allow you to participate in a wider range of activities that will bring about global bonuses for your faction for the remainder of the IG month. You will be able to choose a task from a set of general categories, fulfill that task and obtain a "reward point". That "reward point" will then be spent to give everyone in your faction a certain bonus.
I am avoiding to give concrete names to the "devices" and "reward points" since we have not 100% settled upon their names, but let us look at some of the possible task categories you will have access to (more will be added down the line) :
- Kill quests (you will be tasked to kill and retrieve samples from certain lifeforms in the Sector. This is aimed at high level players)
- Economy tasks (fulfill a certain number of market orders)
- Commodity tasks
- Space Incursion participation
So what can you do with your reward points? Well you can spend them on giving your faction bonuses to experience gains (normal, hacking or captaincy), damage while hunting, stats, etc. While an individual bonus isn't huge, they will certainly add up if everyone pitches in to perform these tasks.
More details and samples will be given as the system gets built, so stay tuned!
Oh...we're also working on some awesome updates to our promotion and promo systems and putting in some of the things you all have requested (trading, to be more exact)! This is all quite exciting!

Re: Updates post #199: Weapon/Armor modding overhaul.
306000 marks is an immensely extreme case which would not happen. Because;
- Reverse-Engineering a mod now gains you 'research credits' and 'parts' with the mod's manufactor.
- A manufacturer's research credits can be invested into any mod from that manufacturer you have previously unlocked via reverse-engineering to increase its mastered progress.
Also you are not supposed to master everything in short amount of time, after all people gotta establish trade not become fully self-sufficient. And there are droves of low MLI mods that can be sold to the dedicated modders which can yield parts and research points. You are speaking of a MLI 75 Obfuscated mod after all. A bit of difficulty on best pieces especially encourages people to sell those finds to the local modders.
Currently the remaining issues I see are MLI-requirements and crafting costs. Because in current rates no one will produce low MLI mods because low MLI people would not have resources to cover that much. Even then, armor pieces are upgraded so frequently in low levels, those mods would not mean much unless they can be bought for a pittance. Abolishing MLI restrictions could be a potential idea but that would require re-balancing the entire catalogue of mods to fit the change.

Re: Updates post #199: Weapon/Armor modding overhaul.
This is a long-term, QoL request in anticipation of the modder scene getting bigger, or at the very least more active:
Could we have a command called something like MODWHO, where you can list all available modders (and ideally their specialization)? This could be an opt-in system, not unlike RPWHO. This could probably be applied to the other trades, too, if it's something people are into.

That's a good alternative, too. As long as they don't always happen at US prime time.Cubey said:
Lemme ask, what's wrong with piercers being changed so they're active only at certain times and players know when these times are and can schedule around it? That solves all problems because everyone who wants to be involved in a piercer attack or defense will know when to log in, as opposed to the current setup of "I was absent because the attack happened when I was at work/asleep/out of the game because I have better things to do than stay logged in 24/7". Factions with superior numbers can flex them too.

Re: Endgame PvE balance
I would like group bashing (or even just pair bashing) be actually viable.

Re: Endgame PvE balance
Can group bashing be a thing? You can throw in tweak for powerleveling but geez there were as many people in bashing trains early as there are now total online.
Still need boss mobs, as well.
And it's weird how mobs here have less complicated attack setups than other places. I remember 'something something engine issue' but really, the 'difficulty' of SM bashing is 1 - learn windups then 2 - manage aggro count/wanderers.
The EM change was blah.
+1 to the ih change.
I think that covers my general PvE opinions.

Re: Cosmpiercers: Problems and an Ambitious Proposal
With the way Starmourn is set up, bashing for more MILs, hacking, captaincy, etc. still feed into each other. As a prime example, gear (and mods, for now) are MIL-dependent.
However, removing straight PVE bashfests from PVP objectives is good. Props to the admin, too, for being incredibly fast with the patches!
