(Quote) Asked this in another thread... In short, no not really, at least not at release and not that are rate-competitive with bashing. Full thread is here: in What happens at level 100? Comment by Shinonome September 2017

Starbound's a nice one. You've just reminded me I need to pay it a visit...

Well... no matter how grindy the game is, it will eventually get top heavy. For people that just want to RP/socialize/write or basically do anything that's not very character stats/mechanics dependent... I'm sure they'll be happy enough not hitting …

Going from IRE examples, I would say the emphasis seems less on acquiring tiered levels of power like ilvls... A little more focused on utility (going back to things like weatherproof again). And I'm not saying it needs entirely new sets of things t…

It's not an all or nothing deal. You can take some elements and concepts and integrate them, without needing to 1:1 copy everything (particularly making it all about gear/ilvls)...

(Quote) In the end, everything is just an extension/delay until that happens...
But, funnily enough, that's how modern MMOs have found success. An endgame/top level progression system that gets regular expansions... And, you know, … -
(Quote) To add to that... having something special at the end gives you new goals. Like... "Oh, I want that weatherproof power so snowstorms aren't such a pain" (Ion storms in starmoun?) etc. Instead of just... "Ok I'm 100, now what?"

In Lusternia, you become a demigod, which gives you access to new locations (including a place necessary to initiate an endgame pvp event thing), and you can purchase demigod powers with a resource you begin to accumulate...

(Quote) What do you define as metagaming..?
If you're talking about voice comms during raids and such -- it is a simple reality of life... Most convenient + responsive form of communication wins...

I'd still prefer if dev resources were focused on more productive things, personally. e.g., I would get more immersion from room echoes... (And, if you're in a marketplace, some of them might still reasonably be advertising...)

...I guess I'll be the one to take the other side. I'm perfectly ok without the extra screen spam. Save it for area messages that can actually add some flavor to whatever your current locale is, please.

(Quote) ...Why does housing have to be a pvp system?
As others have noted, it can have plenty of functionality in its own right... -
(Quote) Another 'not sure how common it is across IRE' thing, but in the game I come from, you can prefix some messages like that.
For example, 'give ring to Scathain (muttering about keeping it secret and safe)', you would then se… -
Ok, glad to hear that's basically a standard feature

(Quote) More specific question (and another thing I'm used to on my "home" IRE mud but I don't know how common it is across the other games)
Would you be able to do a syntax like this? Maybe not exactly but similar in function:

Other games I might pick up sometimes... Warfarm, Warships, Fortnite, Secret World, Sins, Stellaris, ES2... probably a bunch of others I'm forgetting...

Hmm... I think my main games are FF14 and Lusternia. Although both 'fantasy' on the surface, they also both have strong scifi themes... I would say I'm all for scifi. But I do enjoy well written fantasy novels.
I'm still pretty newb with …Well, at least there's something. Thanks for replying.(Quote) Aside from what Sanae said, there are also sometimes debate contests. Hmm. Kind of hard to say, can be a bit of a 'know it when I see it' kind of thing. There's a kind of silly charm to techy dinos, which is why Ry'nari are a maybe depending. In other IRE games (well, I've only real…...if I'm perfectly truthful... none of the current races really appeal to me much. I'm tentatively interested in the Ry'nari... it will really depend on how 'tech' they are vs tribal they end up being-- but if that doesn't work out--
Hum…AR. ARR. ARRRRRR!
(What? It's fun to say)
