  • So, by using discord and not autoinducting into an ooc clan (which can hold clhelp files to DIY some code snippets and such) you have created disparities for those who need help and cannot or will not use discord.

    Again, I am not disagree…
  • The fact that you "should" be able to is not the same as "can". There was a thread about how a chrome book would struggle to run nexus alone... hell, I can't run nexus on my laptop. To blanket statement the ridiculousness of it seems a bit entitled.

  • BTW I use discord. I cannot deny that it is useful. If your goal is to ensure everyone has access to the same information, discord is not the solution.
  • Wonderful, you are still splitting information. An ooc clan or even the newbie channel accomplishes the same thing without isolating information outside of the mechanical limitations of the game. You are denying help to those who can't/won't/don't w…
  • So, as a solution maybe we should turn this thread into suggestions for Starmourn slang. First step is to do a denizen study and see what they are using.

By the by, this is almost identical to swearing. If we are going to eliminate RL sla…
  • Like I said, we have a lot of freedom to create our own slang. If they happen to be based on RL, that isn't terrible in my opinion. Unless they release Tolkienesque appendices, we only have a few contextual cues from denizens.

    The big thi…
  • (Quote) I don't agree. There arr so many semi-hidden references to RL modern scifi tropes to not look at it in a tongue in cheek sort of way. I find RL slang a bit over the top but dont mind it being twisted to fit the setting.
  • I can't say that I disagree with the OP, honestly.

They may be grinding a lot but you can't say that being max level in two weeks or less was the intention. I won't be quitting over it but that is pretty extreme not to take some sort of a…
  • It isn't earth lit though. Slang would have developed from the other cultures that the human prisoners were surrounded by. I think there is room for some fun slang/technobabble to be developed though.

  • That slippery slope eventually leads to isolating those who choose not to participate with the ooc chats which inevitably isolates them from that group. Often a ruling elite forms which cant easily be broken into. If that develops ICly, so be it but…
  • To me, telling someone to join the discord is no different than telling them to join an ooc clan.
  • I don't recommend using discord to gate communication for your org. Some people may not be able to utilize it. Keep information in game whether through an ooc clan or help files. Otherwise you are locking out a portion of the population by adding an…

  • Could roleplay it as a personal shield system similar to Dune. Wasn't trying to be an asshole... this time.
  • (Quote) If it was submitted as a bug in game, wait for the fix. If it hasn't, please do so. If your opinion of the class is that is broken, it is your opinion. If you want to see improvement, this isn't the way to do so.

  • (Quote) I don't understand comments like this. It astounds me when people honestly believe they are furthering discussions with this sort of slippery slope.

Turn this thread into suggestions for improvement rather than whinging. T…
  • You don't really need a bodyguard npc to follow you around. Most of the other IREs have a level gated grace where they cannot be attacked or attack other players unless they opt out or hit a level that is no longer considered "newbie". Save resource…
  • I think what is escaping most people is that this is open beta which means the game is still technically in testing. Nothing is close to balanced for large player amounts yet.

    Sit back and relax.

Game has only been open a week,…

  • Hacking has a mine sweeper feel to me. You need to use logic and the tools at hand to make moves intelligently. Sometimes you have to take risks to get the reward. I honestly love it.

  • I know I have been drinking the Starmourn koolaid lately but I do see how expensive this is going to get if I get adventurous.

+1 for the idea to pay for a quick recovery clone rather than all clones. Getting INR and drops back is a good…
  • If underhunting is your concern, that is beyond me. If you are expecting Starmourn to play like WoW where every mob is standardized for convenience, I certainly hope that we never get to that point. I like the mystery to knowinf what I can and canno…
  • Also, there is likely a solid affliction route that would make it easier to handle. Again approaching hunting here one dimensionally is not going to be as effective.
  • Something Midkemia had that I loved was a diminishing returns system for combat. If you were targetted by more than 2 people in combat, attacks would have a chance to miss you. The more attacking, the less likely you were to get hit. Helped mitigate…
  • I love that Starmourn is bucking "Conventional Wisdom".
