So I just found out there is an NPC with Ushu as their surname. It's a bit frustrating. If I had know it was in use I would have picked a different name for my character. How come NPC names are not blocked for player names? There is a bunch of players now sharing names (and surnames) with NPCs. Is this intentional or just an oversight?

If things are working as intended, perhaps there could be a warning added during character generation to say the name is in use by an NPC so if someone wants a unique name they can pick another rather than find out weeks later their first name is some NPC's surname.

    When they add new NPCs, should they check against the character database, too?

    Anyway you can work that into your RP? Maybe the name means something, maybe your character's parents had some random interaction with them?

    Don't get me wrong, I can understand the frustration. Just trying to think of some way to make it work.

    I can understand the frustration as well, but I tend to think of it as the likelihood of having a unique name in an entire galaxy is ridiculously small. That may be my amateur medieval onamastics background influencing things, though.
