Re: Are all characters mechanically the same at end game?
Yes, all members of the same class have the same toolkit when they've learned all of their lessons. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll fight the same!
Take BEASTs for example, there's a a variety of weapons that they can mount to their suit, so one may be using a Missile launcher, minigun, and a shield, while the other could be using a railgun, net launcher, and a wristblade.

Re: Additional clarity around scripting requirements
Combat in Starmourn isn't really about stacking afflictions like the other games. Afflictions themselves are designed to be short-lived (and cured hands-off), but they have a carry-on effect after being cured, that's where your strategy will come from, both on the offensive and defensive side.

Support option
PvP is a big part of IRE games. But, some of us suck at it. Really, really bad.
Has there been any effort put into the development of a support role for players who want to help with the PvP realm, but are terrible at it?
I don't know if there could be scouting, supply runs, even running messages (ships are fastest form of communication, aren't they?).
Is there anything in the works?

Re: Any more updates?
Yeah, there's a lot of work going on on the main questline and the in-game tutorials at the moment, as well as working on laying out space for your starships to fly through.

Sneak Preview: Gunslinging and Props!
A brief featurette for your reading pleasure...
>>> ptp tecton
Your surroundings shimmer and fade as you transport yourself to Tecton's location.
>>> look
A cramped ship bridge.
Up a few steps from the catwalk is the bridge, a narrow area in the cone of the ship's nose that houses the navigation array, pilot's chairs, and a holographic map of the starsystem. Framed on three sides by R-glass windows with infographic and coordinate overlays, the area is bathed in glowing lights from the many computer systems and displays, along with offering a magnificent view of the starry void of space beyond the windows.
Tecton, the Singularity is here, sitting on a dazzling Throne King commode. Relaxing and inviting, an impressive Throne King commode is installed here.
There are no obvious exits.
>>> say time to face the music
You say, "Time to face the music."
>>> crackshot tecton
You point a Pryfix TRT at Tecton and fire it.
Tecton's eyes widen at you and he lets forth a loud "Eek!"
Tecton stands up.
Tecton dives behind a dazzling Throne King commode for cover.
You have recovered your balance.
Tecton says, "Not today!"
>>> probe commode

>>> crackshot commode
You point a Pryfix TRT at a dazzling Throne King commode and fire it.
Tecton is no longer protected by a dazzling Throne King commode.
No longer able to contain its internal energy, a dazzling Throne King commode explodes!
Shrapnel is flung wildly in all directions, embedding itself into any flesh it encounters.
You are able to avoid some of the damage.
You have recovered your balance.
Displaying killer style, Tecton glides backwards, smoothly circling around you, while somehow appearing to take forward steps.
Tecton shimmers and fades as he teleports to someplace far, far away.
>>> nexttime
You clench your fist and shout, "I'll get you next time!"

Re: Which Client?
That's nice to hear as that's a major reason we developed it. I don't think people should have to download or run third party software to play a game.DPierre said:Nexus. Big reason I play IRE games over other MUDs is that I don't have to deal with extra software.

Re: Which Client?
The tradeoffs between Nexus and Mudlet probably boil down to:
- Nexus is easier to use to do things like rearrange windows how you want them, point different output at different windows, etc.
- Mudlet is more powerful, however, and while it's more work, you can do more with that kind of thing in Mudlet ultimately, if you put the work in and know what you're doing.
- Nexus will provide a much better out-of-the-box experience for space than Mudlet, though we've already worked with the Mudlet chief maintainer to give us support for pushing font packages down to Mudlet. Seeing space with the font we use for it (Arame Mono) will be a much better experience. Beyond that, we automatically push space to a separate window for you in Nexus. Doable in Mudlet for sure, but it's out-of-the-box in Nexus.
- Nexus is cross-platform, and your same system will work on mobile as does on PC. Mudlet isn't.
- Mudlet is a little faster. We're always working on that, but a native application is always going to have a slight advantage speed-wise over an app running in a browser.
