Call me boring, but I am a passionate subscriber to "Humanity: FUCK Yeah!". Human/Terran all the way.

Re: Random Questions
Last name, yes. In fact, you will be forced to pick from a list of race-appropriate last names. First name, we're not sure on, though either way, you will be able to choose your own first name if you choose.Devina said:You cannot see my spastic octopus-flailing excitement right now, but it's present. Here's a question also: will there be a way to randomly generate a race-typical name based on race like there is in Lusternia (and I think Aetolia and probably Imperian, Achaea and was in Midkemia)? Because I... Am an RPer, and while I know this game isn't RP-enforced or anything, I do like things that sort of promote ... uh ... RP.Aurelius said:You're even going to be able to get fat or skinny in Starmourn, though again, those won't have any kind of mechanical effect. You can just ignore food if you'd like, though you'll eventually look emaciated. Similarly, if you don't move much and eat a lot, you'll get fat.Devina said:@Aurelius -- that is a fabulous thing. I'm really pumped just for this particular mechanic regarding descriptions, allowing us to have a really varying level of appearances more than just "young and pretty". I never see middle-age people. Or even much variation on height and colors.

Re: Can't wait!
A lot of the lasting RP culture, as with the other games, is going to come from those of us who use it in the early days, and how.Devina said:When I played there, I got a lot of really beautiful RP from literally everywhere, but I know it isn't an RP-enforced game, and it does show through. Most of what I know of it now is through hearsay (since I no longer play), so I'm not a good judge on the Current State - but I have high hopes for Starmourn, even if it isn't RP-enforced (as it was announced it isn't), because there's always RP somewhere for those looking.Aurelius said:It's weird. Some people say that, whereas I see others calling Achaea an RP-enforced game (which it definitely isn't!)Devina said:because Achaea isn't always RP-heavy
(Like with me. Hit me up, y'all, when Starmourn opens. I'll RP your brains out.)
That's what I can't wait for. We have a completely clean slate on the player-culture side of things, and even the sky's not the limit!

Re: Can't wait!
As someone who's played all of the IRE-produced games (for various periods of time), I'm excited. I'm excited for something new, I'm excited for something different. I was a smidge nervous when Achaea was mentioned, because Achaea (though I had an excellent time there in Mhaldor and as kooky Maerwen the Jester) isn't always RP-heavy and is quite combat-heavy (something I have never been good at). That said: what I've seen so far has been very interesting. It's unique. It's titillating.
I'm salivating a little, that's how excited I am for its eventual release. I might even retire an unused character for it.

Whoorn and Ry'nari.
The lioness thing going on with the female art is really cool. As for the Ry'nari?

Need I say more?

But definitely something on the cards for post-launch!Aurelius said:Depends on how you want to play it. It's a big galaxy, and you could either be related or not. Lots of Smiths in the rl for instance - they're definitely not all related. We're not going to have any kind of family code at release.Amondrask said:How will that factor in with families? If you end up with the same last name as another player, will you be related, or is it more a case of you're both Xarazi's, but of different family lines?Aurelius said:Last name, yes. Rp is my entire reason for playing in MUDs, to be honest with you, so I'm super excited to see how it turns out in Starmourn. It'd be nice to see a little more racial roleplay going on, and seeing the various cultures of the races in action via NPCs.
