  • I did much better handling wetwiring this time around, still not perfect, but better. It was my first time using tripwiring and while it's nice, it does have a long balance time and probably should only be used when you know you have the time. I do like to use pusher IEDs, those are awesome.

actually prio'd health sys aff here, not usually a great idea but it let me put more pressure on than I would normally.

  • I don't see how you can get away with having three commands like that.

PVP will now execute: stand|overclock|dualshot Mardu.
    [H: 100% / -WC] [M100.00 I100.00 S100.00 M100.00 W100.00]
[Queue]: You will attempt to do STAND when you recover balance.
[Queue]: You will attempt to do SUIT OVERCLOCK when you recover balance.
[Queue]: You will attempt to do MWP DUALSHOT MARDU when you recover balance.
    [H: 100% / -WC] [M100.00 I100.00 S100.00 M100.00 W100.00]
    You have recovered your balance.

Only the last one queued gets through. So why have it like that?

If you roll up you'll notice that at the beginning of a fight (except when I fuck up, of course) I am sending that right /after/ I get balance, so if I'm on bal I stand/overclock/dualshot all at once since it isn't queued (overclock doesn't cost bal). The rest of the time I'm using the same keybind to dualshot, even though I can't overclock, because as you said it only sends the last one. No reason to make multiple keybinds or code something for it when I can just do it as above.
[edit] I am hoping BEAST gets some QoL changes like Nanoseer got, being able to swap weapons and overclock off-bal would be very nice and change basically nothing about the class.
  • For some reason my posts are needing approval. Really weird.

  • You worry way too much about using Pusher to escape when you should be coming up with a more focused offensive strategy and pursuing it.
  • Yes, once a few of my subsystems starts get below 90% I start freaking out a bit. I am also still getting used to this kind of combat style and this kind of combat in general. I played a Mage in another MUD (not IRE) and I made room wide rituals and used direct magical spells that when combined could do tons of damage, while other classes worked on doing a lot of affliction or damage + afflictions. Mage's did a lot of straight up damage and could control the fight using musical instruments. I am also trying to figure out what my abilities do, I don't really have many. I might go ahead and use other IEDs though instead of rippers. I only have two other IEDs that I think would be useful and I think I just need to figure out what ammo would be best to use with the IED i choose so i can get the most out of it.

  • No point using a pusher if you don't have any form of movement hinder on them, he's just gonna walk in after and continue. You'd have wasted 4.0s balance for nothing.
  • Well, the point of using it was to have a chance of running and that worked a couple of times, but then they started either walking right in or in Mardu's case, he just used STEADY and it stops the pusher from pushing.

I have a few more ideas next time around though.

(Scatterhome): Cal says, "We're called Scatterhome after what everybody does at the end of the night when it's time for someone to pay the bar tab."

  • If a BEAST uses steady you can crash away instead of using a pusher, takes 3 seconds of balance to turn steady off so they can chase, you can use that as an opportunity to run.
  • wow, thanks. I didn't know that.  I do eventually want to spar against other classes. So far I have only spared against BEASTs haha

I'm not a fighter currently, but looking at getting into this eventually when conflict appears in the game and for the moment I'm just looking at you people's logs.
But, as a nanoseer myself and looking at the logs, I find that nanoseer combat is pretty...erm...dull?
It just seems to be envelop then spam confound and mindswap when it falls off, apply distract/sluggish when possible and...that's about it?Mindmelt when possible...
Or am I missing some hidden intricacy there? Seems to be only slightly more complicated than bashing...

That's a simplified version of one of the offensive paths you can take, sure. But there's more to a fight than just rushing down your offense before the other guy does.

Offensive routes aren't super complicated right now, as any class, though. That's for certain. Nanoseer has a few different routes to go though, which lets you switch it up.
  • Mindmelt route is the most straightforward one and the most explored one considering it is a bit trickier to go for the Shatter route due to Freeze disappearing over time and also being a curable affliction. Though I have been able to pull it off occasionally, i.e starting like a Mindmelt route while building Freeze/Damage pressure in between. Furthermore nanoseer has a good deal of denial and AoE control abilities...essentially making them control the flow of the battle. You want it to go faster? You want it to go slower? You want to just let them cool down for 10 seconds?

I would say it is not dull for the time being, because there are still a large variety of unexplored combinations which is yet to find its way to the surface.
  • I've been trying to contribute with logs of my own here, but it's hard to find a sparring buddy at lowbie levels. But I managed to find a fight! It takes a bit to start because I was distracted at the beginning and all of my bashing settings were on, so I scrambled away to set things up properly. You'll see lots of ridiculous mistakes (like me as a Fury trying to use BEAST anti-air, yikes)

Lowbie fights are like people in toilet paper armor swinging sledgehammers. It's over so fast!

Wasn't logging so I only have awful copypasta of what Nexus was able to capture. Formatting is pretty ugly.
Sorta HTML colored link that looks hideous
Better looking but no color plaintext (same fight)

I'm happy about getting my first kill. :)

Some of my best fights to date, thank you @Darios!

Scoundrel v Beast in our first ever BOUNTY LOG!

  • Style points at the end there.
  • I'm amazed and envious that someone just let you unload an entire full mag on them without interrupting.
  • Twice! His script was trying to do the Fury interrupt from when he wasn't BEAST.

I had the same mistake when I swapped from BEAST to Fury. Opponent was flying and I kept trying to GRAPPLE. Though that one resolved much better, since I just flew up and we had a quick but frantic battle in midair. Should probably draw fanart of it sometime, it felt cool.
  • Tripwires are mean :(

https://ada-young.appspot.com/pastebin/lkZAbY9W [Nykara v Reon, scoundrel mirror]

  • You damaged him out while practically at full health yourself. Did those tripwire rippers contribute that much, or was it more that he probably didn't have HP prio in ww and didn't guile stim on CD on top of that? Because your damage output and received from your crackshot/rapid-fire seemed comparable.
