Re: XP Requirement needs to be Lowered and Quest Logs need Updates
I suspect the point here is each level is more meaningful and carries greater impact - no more skipping the first 60 levels in one day by heading to Manara at level 20. There's no problem with the system as it is, except that levelling "feels" slower. Your rate of progression is the same as everybody else. Also, exp gain seems like it has been smoothed out across all levels (at every level so far you get roughly 1% per mob kill if you go to the recommended area, idk about higher levels but it is possible that 0.1% exp per mob at other IRE muds' high levels has been removed and replaced with a more evened-out exp gain across all levels? Purely speculation tho since no one has reached there yet).
Basically don't compare your exp gain in this game to your previous experiences in other MUDs. I think Starmourn is using a different system to make each level count.

Re: Launch Day
I think making NPC dialogue invisible to anyone it isn't directed at might help, at least temporarily. It's entirely possible that the player population will shrink in the coming months and the high volume could just be due to launch hype, and then maybe you could undo such a change. But for now, especially with the early quest mobs, approaching them is just a very confusing dialogue spam that's hard to follow, due to everyone greeting/interacting at once in order to progress their quests.Tecton said:

Emote limitations
"[Mindsim]: You may not include multiple quoted phrases in your emote."
Seriously? If this is a deliberate design choice I beg you to reconsider. If this is just a temporary technical limitation then I will work around it.

Montem said:Yeah, I think part of the core of SH will be complaining. It's pretty funny. Also lynching. People seem excited to hang each other. Oh and @Chronoxi is a true scat man. He was getting down in faction chat. I was rolling.
I like the infighting. I fear it won't last though as politicians gain control and make everyone conform. Would love to see Scatterhome with a weak government but strong mafia dynasties, corporate clans. Then it will fit the website description of it :
"It's a rallying point within the Starmourn sector for anarchists,
revolutionaries-in-hiding, criminals on the run, and other
rule-breaking, lawless misfits, but also contains a healthy population
of wealthy mining magnates, heads of intersellar corps, and others who
appreciate the finer things in life in an environment light on
regulation."
A chance for a different kind of 'faction'.

Re: Credit Market = Bound Credits?
Conversely, it preempts speculator tendencies. Buy cheap now, sell high later. It's a plague that has overtaken other IREs, and I, for one, am glad that it is being nipped in the bud here in Starmourn.

Re: Launch Day
@Tecton your transparency and ability to pinpoint and fix frustrations is refreshing with how many games have been shitty with that lately. Thank you for being a present game dev
Re: Appreciation Thread
I have to say, I've found the hacking missions to be very tense and enjoyable. I always feel like I'm cutting it to the wire and it really focuses on playing it intelligently.

Re: Appreciation Thread
This is the first MUD I've ever played that actually feels like a text-based MMO. The depth is really impressive. Like apart from just enjoying the ride I also keep staring at all the maps and systems and thinking wooooow this is so pretty. Kudos, Starmourn team, kudos. This is hella polished. (Aside from a few forgivable early beta bugs.)
