Re: Roleplay (Insanity) - Who is Your Character
On the topic of RP:
(Scatterhome): <personA> says, "As a great Earth historical figure once said, "I'm a dude. He's a dude. She's a dude. Cuz we're all dudes.""
(Scatterhome): <personB> says, "As another one of Earth's great historical figures once said... I'm not your buddy, guy."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Earth's history lost? Blatant OOC on public channels especially is really fucking with any sense of immersion.

Re: The Ideas Thread
Can we have either CONFIG MASOCHISM or some target dummies to quickly test skills on? Thematically I also think being able to go into some combat simulator where you beat up a virtual target for the sake of practice would be neat. But I'll take any solution.

Re: Religion and Starmourn
Religion is far less important in Starmourn than in our fantasy MUDs. One thing there won't be in Starmourn is the kind of personification of any supernatural beings that you see in the Gods in our fantasy games, so unlike in our other games, where it's basically indisputable not only that some Gods exist, but which ones exist, there's nothing similar in Starmourn. Most people in Starmourn don't really believe in gods any more, and like real life, different cultures don't agree on which religions/gods are real. Some cultures also have totally different conceptions of Gods, like the Elgan, who sort of believe all their ancestors are gods, making gods rather unremarkable to them.
All that said, I will say this, which I've said before: There is a mystery wrapped up in the lore of Starmourn that so far, to my knowledge, nobody has figured out or spotted. It relates to this topic a bit.

More stuff!
- Could we please give the star map a footer, like how the regular map has a "------ blah blah ------"? It'd make it a lot less of a pain to use in triggers. ty tecton you beautiful fiend
- Please consider adding a footnote about Earth history being forgotten, either to HELP HUMANS or HELP EARTH. Watching Scatterhome's FT chat go on about "ancient Earth music" is killing me.

Re: Non-combat options
There's going to need to be all sorts of adjustments and changes, including things like this most likely, but right now we're pretty focused on basic game stability, so this kind of thing is mostly going to wait until we've smashed more bugs.

Re: RP 'Rules' & Etiquette
I support their idea of creating a roleplay club for themselves. They will probably have to limit themselves to really only interacting with each other, since it seems they may want the outcomes to their plot lines already established. Such will probably not be respected by anyone outside of their group. So they need to easily be able to come together to play to their own wishes, and enjoy the game.
Me, I personally prefer to just play a character living in an organic world with circumstances developing as the game progresses. I am not really keen on the idea of being in what amounts to a play, since I prefer to use the mechanics of the game to help determine various outcomes of the stories that naturally arise for my character. So if my character is an avenging sort of guy who fights for the underdog, I prefer to make sure my character can actually back up his self-perceived image with mastery of the mechanics of PVP combat. If I wanted my character to be a business mogul, then I would want to use the games economic mechanics to actually corner the market I choose to focus on. Essentially, I prefer my roleplay to be supported by my character's actual capabilities, not by predetermined plot lines.

Re: The Ideas Thread
Could we please do away with the feature that causes you to fail/abandon a quest if you don't complete it in time? I don't mind if some quests are timed for specific reasons, but for most of them it seems a bit harsh, and not very friendly towards casual players. Some of the quests take time to complete and if for whatever reason I can't be logged on for two hours straight that day, it's frustrating to have to start all over again when I next log on.

Minion said:(Would be nice to have more lower level terminals to practice on in Song but even the higher level ones i know i will lose to are a blast to fiddle with.)
I added a few low level terminals around Song tonight - have fun finding these! Associated quests for them will be coming soon.

Re: XP Requirement needs to be Lowered and Quest Logs need Updates
Too obvious. Look behind the curtain, not in front of it, n00b. Who pulls Starmourn and Iron Realms' strings? EA? MI-6? The Chechens?Zaoul said:This is obviously a scheme by BigStarmourn to start selling xp boosting items for credits.
