Re: Non-combat options
Speaking out of ignorance of all of the possibilities available in game but, would it be possible to build some delivery quests that give captaincy xp?
So they spawn an asteroid or full gas scoop that needs to be delivered to a refinery elsewhere. Your only job is to transport the goods. You don't get the resources after refining but get marks and some xp? I would add an insurance or deposit fee to the quest so people don't just run off with free rock/gas.
Maybe this is already a thing but if not it could be an alternative to incursions for captaincy xp.
EDIT: Could also do smuggling quests eventually that force you to dodge military forces so autopilot can't be used.

Re: The tips and tricks thread
Don't fall into old RP habits. We're not warring kingdoms, divided by our use of eldritch magic or being undead. We don't have to be so black and white.
Our factions may be ideologically opposed but so are modern day real life countries. We have a glorious galactic community and economy. Go RP with your rivals. It doesn't mean we're all sleeping together. War is still war; buying Pollivar a drink doesn't mean I won't try to burn him to a crisp later at a Cosmpiercer.
Don't shit this game up like the others.

Re: Roleplay (Insanity) - Who is Your Character
Humans have basically nothing of old Earth. Virtually no files on history was taken by the Free Fleet, not a single physical anything. They just grabbed the prisoners to enslave them, took a couple files on military capabilities, and left. Those prisoners had nothing with them but the clothes they were wearing at the time.
Worse, it's not like those prisoners were scholars or folks generally interested in documenting life on Earth, although there was the Terran History Project at one point, which started doing so. It just didn't get very far because they were hardened criminals who, if they survived, became hardened soldiers trying desperately to survive in a hostile universe. Not a lot of time for worrying about documentation.
Anything anyone knows about Earth 900+ years later is so distorted as to be unrecognizable to us as 2018 humans, and is almost certainly wrong. Modern human history essentially begins the day the Free Fleet attacked the Callisto prison colony, and everything before that is just kind of a blur at very best, and mostly completely opaque. Maddox Khan and Akari Lane are effective Adam and Eve of the new human race. (With a guest appearance by Selma Castillo.)
So yeah, anyone referencing Gordon Ramsey or MacBeth is being pretty OOC.

If you're using the nexus client, WINDOW <command> creates a window and populates it with the output. E.g. WINDOW INCURSION LIST creates a separate window with the current incursion list. So useful.

Re: The Ideas Thread
The ability to create and write our own datashards, which can then be shared to other players!

Re: Roleplay (Insanity) - Who is Your Character
It's incredibly jarring, but remember that the game is still brand new, and not everyone here is a veteran of Iron Realms. If you want people to foster an IC environment, you must lead by example, and you must be patient.

Re: The Ascendancy's Government
To piggyback on this, will the factions be receiving some guidance to help their newly elected leadership stay on-theme?

Hacking
I just wanted to leave a blurb of positive feedback on hacking. I have been enthralled with hacking in games since the ol Sega Genesis copy of Shadowrun came out, and I am very happy they both share similarities!
I look forward to additional hacking puzzles and hurdles in the future, especially if it might turn the tide in combat or unlock hidden areas that most wouldn't be able to access.
Originally I only had one qualm--I found, after a dozen or so hacking attempts on lvl 1-2 grids, that Ops blew by considerably fast. I quickly learned to bypass anti viruses and blast firewalls as I plotted to the array. Even so, I found a level one terminal with a 7 letter password and a huge grid, which meant it was down to the wire to solve the password each attempt.
Lately though it seems like Ops have been increased. I'm not sure if that happened because of leveling, added points in life force, or a QoL change but either way, it's far more enjoyable to hack now when I have a tiny bit of breathing room!
It would be fun, in the future, to find data nodes inside grids that we can hack (optional) and steal information to sell to npcs. It's an alternative to earning mark's and gaining a name for ourselves.
Keep up the great work.
