Re: Updated Policies Regarding Harassment and OOC
Thank you very much for the steps taken by staff to address certain issues that had fallen to the wayside. I had departed Starmourn in disgust and was not thinking of coming back, but myself and a few others who left at around the same time, for the same reasons, have all expressed a great deal of appreciation for the sincerity this has been dealt with and countermeasures enacted, especially the new HELP GENDER. It gives me a renewed sense of hope for the game's trajectory in future, although I was dismayed it did not happen sooner and some of the damage was already done.

Re: Refinery, Market orders and mining tweaks
Well, that's all fine and dandy for the ~20% of space - But, these areas are also open PVP and you need to be physically within the influence area to COSMPIERCER SURVEY the area and many are pretty far away from the major trade hubs. I still believe we gatherers need an ability to scan for resources at a further distance, regardless of whether their faction (or lack thereof) controls a cosmpiercer. I would be happy with just being able to scan the entire 250X250 zone you're currently in for resources.Cubey said:It's called owning a cosmpiercer. You can scan the whole area around it.Lhundrup said:I think there should be some type of item or skill available that is specifically for detecting resources at a longer distance. Maybe a command such as SURVEY or PROSPECT that will scan an entire 250x250 zone for all resource deposits. Or, even just detects the nearest deposit regardless of distance, or a 500 unit range.

Re: Leadership Updates
Eukelade said:- Players will now start their Starmourn adventure equipped with a towel. Towels, as you know, are very important for space travelers.
In light of said changes, a book with "DON'T PANIC" written in large friendly letters on its covers seems appropriate as well.

Re: Leadership Updates
The other minions have designated me the footstool for our Supreme Overlord. As such, my apologies to the Celestines as their stories may be delayed due to Her Adorableness' feet often being tired.

Re: Station Missions
Song has integrated resource gathering and production and station mission completion into its merit system.
Tweaks are being made as the station mission mechanics are developed, but that's how it goes in beta!

Re: Station Missions
The experience I had yesterday with them was tedious. Granted, it took us awhile to figure out that shops were on stations (and we wasted a bunch of time trying to search every single nook and cranny in cities, deserts, forests, etc.), however when it came to manufacturing, basically it turned into my responsibility to manufacture everything, due to being the only active manufacturer. I can't be in the game 24/7, so while more missions pile up while I'm away, I feel really daunted at the thought, "Wow...if we don't have any other manufacturers, the only thing I would be doing every time I log in would be trying to repair a station that I know I just can't keep up with." Yes, that's a bit extreme --- I do see the game progressing and improving, but still, that's a really disheartening thought to have. In an ideal world where there's a larger player base and more manufactures, something like station missions would seem more fun. I loved how everyone searched and worked together, and I can see manufacturing duties being split up to make it more manageable. Song as a faction just isn't there, yet. I think the station missions would be more awesome if they were optional, but instead of repairing them to prevent the doom of not being able to dock, they would instead give some sort of extra ability to the station or faction bonus of some sort. This would be a positive incentive for everyone to work towards gaining, rather than doing something to prevent something negative.

Re: Gas mining: tricks to make it easier.
SHIP BEACON only shows gas within your ship's range, and it has to be in the same zone. So even if you're right next to a gas cloud or an asteroid, (or even a ship), if it's in another space zone, it won't ping on your beacon.
Gas scooping isn't difficult, it's tedious and time-consuming. 10 minutes to fill up a scoop (at minimum, assuming you get a gas cloud large enough or two clouds right next to each other, and not counting the travel times) is too long. I can bash up around 2000 marks in that time, with minimal effort, to boot.
