Solution 1A: Allow INSURANCE TOWREQUEST <ship> to function on ships docked at cosmpiercers in addition to ships floating in space.
Re: Cosmpiercers: Problems and an Ambitious Proposal
Folks, please let's get back on track! While the debate between players might point out things about how you all need to relate to each other, both intra-faction and inter-faction, let's keep this thread about feedback/likes/dislikes/wants of the current Cosmpiercer incarnation.
I have been keeping up with this thread and have kept on making changes throughout the month but the population issue is not one that has an immediate solution. When we get more PvP games down the line with different kinds of interactivity, I hope more of you will find your niche in terms of what kind of PvP game you like. The Cosmpiercer system can't be a catch-all system. I will keep on bringing changes to you all, we're not done with it.

Re: Hacking - Ideas, Updates, Etc?
I think a simple and powerful skill could be added at Guru, providing some real motivation to grind all that way (and it is A LOT of grinding):
BYPASS: Once per hacking attempt, you may bypass the terminal's ICE to learn 1 letter of the password.

Re: Help choose our next "Big Thing"
Another thing I'd also like but isn't in this poll are faction arenas. I want a Celestine arena, goddammit. I can already picture it in my mind, full of splendor and over-the-top bling. A testament to badly-spent wealth.

Re: Help choose our next "Big Thing"
I admit that what I chose (PvE mechanics) is not my top choice. Still waiting for ship modding!!! But under the definition of "the next big thing," I understand that ship modding would only effect a handful of players. I would like to see more group activities: group PvE both on the ground and in space, group hacking (I have NO clue what this would look like, but sounds intriguing), and group quests. A large part of the game's progress is determined by individual grinding efforts, regardless of where that focus is. Overall, it would be really good for the game is more group mechanics were introduced.

Re: Help choose our next "Big Thing"
It appears that there is absolutely no option to change your vote, which is unfortunate, because I glazed over the PvE Mechanics option (as Evasion/Cover) without thinking about what it could be.
Having a level cap has actually been OK in my opinion for the health of the game, because it gives us a good point to test from. We are in beta, so we are still testing things out; we still haven't gotten things to what I think is a pretty decent balance point.
On the other hand... PvE is in need of a lot of work, and it isn't about using cover or Evasion being more useful (although both of those are important issues). First and foremost, the problem is (as @kamyr said above and @Rhindara said elsewhere and @Pink_Candyfloss mentioned here) that solo bashing is really boring, and group bashing is not a viable option.
It has been said, "I don't want group bashing to be better than solo bashing." I don't share this opinion: I see absolutely no reason that group bashing shouldn't be better than solo bashing. It shouldn't be twice as good, but 20-50% better is absolutely a goal to aim for. Why? Well, simply: this game is social. Social activities should be more rewarding than not, because if we don't foster a community then we are in danger of the community falling apart.
blah blah, anyway. Long-winded post summarized as: pls to make group bashing (and bashing with your low-level friends that you just got into the game without rolling a whole new character) very viable.

Also sorry for late add but - level 50 areas. We need a new one, a better one. One that is not Literally Hell (anemoi is even Amaian for Hell) to bash in.

Re: Cosmpiercers: Problems and an Ambitious Proposal
Okay, could we take this somewhere else and keep this thread for feedback on the Cosmpiercer system and not about the vague philosophical differences between social pressure and individual/group e-peen anxiety?
Re: Cosmpiercers: Problems and an Ambitious Proposal
Pink_Candyfloss said:You can't really complain about the losses at a Cosmpiercer when the content is entirely optional. Plus, just from reading this, you made a ton of mistakes. If you've got junk in your cargo and you go to a Cosmpiercer, you deserve to lose it. If you've got far too many supplies aboard, be prepared to lose it all, you need to learn to moderate how much you're carrying and store some on stations. It isn't stealing, you're a willing participant in a conflict and taking you out and taking your supplies means you're less likely to join the fight in the next one while you have to resupply. It is a simple battle tactic, nothing more.
Okay first off, I didn't say anything about junk. I said supplies and yes you do need that many supplies when you're flying a battleship. 100 repairkits, 60 batteries and 6+ astromechs is the minimum required if you foresee a fight. Otherwise you'll just run out mid battle. And that's already 25k marks.
Secondly, if you think cosmpiercer content is optional then you're clearly not aware of social pressure players push on others just to have them participate - whether they want to or not. Your character is in Scatterhome, right? The org has a stance of "fuck it, do what you want" but others are different. Even in CA I had to tell Zhulkarn to back off because he was pushing non-PvPers into participating in cosmpiercers against their will. Imagine how it looks like in Song with its RP being "we're all soldiers and we do everything we can for the faction".
And that's just pressure from people within your faction. On a game-wide level, if you're a known combatant or org leader, then there is enormous pressure to make your faction look strong by winning fights, and that currently means cosmpiercers. It's no secret that marks from controlling piercers might as well not be there. The real reward is the rep. Covering the whole cosmpiercer map in your faction colors makes it look powerful. And ff you don't control cosmpiercers, or if someone attacks and you're around but don't respond? You just end up looking weak and pathetic.
