Song has integrated resource gathering and production and station mission completion into its merit system.
Tweaks are being made as the station mission mechanics are developed, but that's how it goes in beta! -
It's weird. If it's a big clump of cloud, only one (the "originating" square) that will show up on your beacon. If that square happens to be on the other side of a zone boundary, then it won't show up on your beacon (because it's cross-zone), even i…

It's zone restrictions. You can be right next to a cloud and not spot it on a beacon, if you and the cloud are in two separate zones.
-
Definitely a huge leap forward! This is GREAT!

Yes to positive reinforcement!

What I'm really interested are the admins' thoughts on this (the economy as a whole). It'd be easier to formulate ideas when we know the overall Vision.

Comms glut concerns are offset by a lot of factors: it takes marks to refine and produce, and it takes marks to store products.
Sure, you can refine 10k elessium and create a glut, but it still cost 9 marks to refine each of that, plus 10… -
SHIP BEACON only shows gas within your ship's range, and it has to be in the same zone. So even if you're right next to a gas cloud or an asteroid, (or even a ship), if it's in another space zone, it won't ping on your beacon.
Gas … -
(Quote) Not for NPC orders. NPC market orders generate new marks into the economy; furthermore, they compete with player orders. They're actually in a good spot, in that they start low (so you either lose or break even on the investment you m…

I forgot to add this little tidbit!
I understand the wariness at introducing more supply to the resource economy. Other IREs have suffered from just this problem. However, this is not like Achaea or Lusternia where you can store hundreds … -
Yeah, that's what I mean. It takes ten minutes to scoop up a cloud, as opposed to the 10 seconds it takes to tether an asteroid.

If you need IC shells for your actual characters, make yourselves into Rek or Y'saari, imo.

In light of the new Station Missions (NEWS READ UPDATE 165), I'd like to add in a few resource-gathering ideas: (sorry, @Tiase, for the hijack!)
So, I fee… -
You can buy and sell resources without having to gather and refine them yourself.

I hate everyone!

I do quests fairly regularly (bordering on religious), so I will concede that my suggestion has its biases!
-
For the meta-currency, instead of introducing Dynasty-only quests, why not just attach 'faction' influence to all quests? Let's call it dynastic fame.
Do the quests in Thait -> you get the normal rewards + fame, if you're part of a dyn… -
@Tiase unfortunately, I envision Mereas as more of a Caesar (from Planet of the Apes) than a Chewbacca

Try just RESUME STORY?

What I do whenever I start hunting a new area is I'd go around and attack (not kill) one of each kind of creature. I would wait until I notice a large hit to my health (indicating the completion of a wind-up), and then grab the attack line be…

Counterpoint, but once you do know the windup lines, they actually become easier than non-windup mobs. Them doing their wind-up attack means they're not hitting you with health and subsys damage.

In a way, you aren't going to make that money again (via bashing), because it still counts against your daily junk cap.
-
The one sticking point I do have is that it does suck for players with unreliable connections, because at some point your best bet is to just log off for the day. And it should never be that the best move for any player is to leave when they just wa…

Having a list of refineries that you can access from anywhere would be nice, too. If I'm in the middle of neutralspace, I won't flying off to Hiza on the off-chance it has the refinery I need; I'd just head to Omni, where I'm sure to find the…

There's been a lot of talk about the economy in Discord. To summarize:
Distributors may have a potential niche in the economy; that is, people who do not gather nor produce goods, but rather take them from station to station to sell for a… -
A round of thanks to everyone in Song who's been contributing to our FHELP index! :chuffed:

@Katherine that was probably the most fun I've had in a while. SSN is such a fun idea! in Thanks for the RP! Vol. 1. Comment by Matlkael March 2019

Yeah avoid using ASCII and pseudo tables

Oh! So it wasn't even us!

I'm curious. Earlier today, there was a space fight between Song and Scatterhome that ended with massive lag for the whole game for a few minutes. What caused it?
