Re: Player character demographics
There would probably be less humans if we could reincarnate. I just picked human when I started because I hadn't read any lore on launch day.

Re: While there are no Gods
Maybe I was spoiled but the IRE god characters I interacted with were definitely flawed and while they were significantly more powerful than PCs, they were respectful even when you disagreed. Sure, you were killed from time to time but it added to the tension of the interactions. For the most part, comparing them to the greek gods and how they interacted with mortals helped me put them into perspective. I am sure for someone who values their e-peen more than a well told story, they would see the god interactions as "self wanking".Cubey said:Tobias said:One of the best aspects of IRE games, is the role play. One of the most rich drivers of that has been the Gods. Developers and administrators that(in addition to the behind the scenes aspects of the job) take on the RP role of Gods to add to the richness of RP and to push the narrative in certain directions.Dunno what games you've been playing, but my RP experience with IRE god characters was limited to two scenario:1. Interacting with a Mary Sue egotist who is happy when placated (get those brown nosing emotes ready!) but will zap you mercilessly for failing to grovel enough2. Admin self-wankery where their Mary Sues do everything through world-wide visible poweremoting while players can only stand and gape in awe at how awesome all that shit wasStarmourn does things differently than other IRE muds so if you're going to have admin-controlled NPCs, then I hope you do this differently than Achaea or Lusternia too.
That said, I dont think that style of admin interaction would fit well in SM. Looking forward to,seeing how this develops.

Re: An update on bashing?
50+ includes 60+, I think.ekary said:Any idea when those of us in to 60+ areas can expect some relief?
Issues up there aren't just respawn timers though, but also things like certain mobs that can 2 shot you if RNG says they get to use their power attack back to back.
An update on bashing?
Just what the title says, hoping for an update on fixing the bashing situation. Things are getting ridiculous in Thait now and the other areas are either way too difficult to be worth bashing or have an insane respawn time. I think the bashing situation easily qualifies for the biggest problem in the game right now, so I am just wondering if we could get an update on the status of a resolution.

Re: Lets talk about Nanoseers abilities. Nanoseer General
I love the class. I like the risk v reward. I like that I can run out of nanites and that I can drive myself insane. It's just that the rewards for walking that line right now seem a little poor.
I have at times used: Pointzero, Channel Traveller, Speedup, Channel Conqueror, Frenzy and then Multistrike, Freeze, Swarm... With that much wind up we should be able to punch above our level, but really no. It's usually just not worth it unless you were really close to being able to kill whatever without having to do all that.
And, if Repair is going to be a 10% resource drain, why does it have a cooldown? It's already self-limiting if you are doing much of anything else.

Re: Lets talk about Nanoseers abilities. Nanoseer General
Personally I like how oblivion is set up, even if some things probably need tweaks. Its good risk vs reward dynamics and for the most part I think the abilities it offers are exceptionally good. The sunderer is my only major gripe, though I think the Architect is a little lackluster. Overall though, its probably my favourite skill out of any of the classes mechanically and thematically.
Nanotech is uncontrollable risk/potential reward, which is frustrating. Losing to dice rolls is fine, but not when you're the only one having to roll at the table. More control would be great.

Re: Junk economy experiencing scarcity. PROBABLY NERFED
So the lesson here is:
A. Open Beta
2. Admin are not out to getcha
D. While it is important to bring things to the attention of the admin and seek input from the community, it isn't valuable to lambaste the game and staff in doing so. There is going to be a lot of adjustment.

Re: Good Vibrations!
Despite the horrible state of bashing choices at the higher levels, I REALLY love the leveling model in Starmourn. In other IRE games you can get the first eighty levels in a solid weekend then it takes months to get the last few and it is infuriating that you just don't feel any progression for so long. In Starmourn the grind is spread out between the levels so while there is still a serious time investment needed, you can feel your progress throughout the entire process.
I also am in love with the gear system. Being able to upgrade individual pieces as you level is a great addition to the game and makes the grind to end game a little more fun. The elation of upgrading your piece by 10 levels is great!

We... Really don't need to trade stuff off.
We're in a a bad place. We can afford to get stronger without imposing more disadvantages on ourselves or throwing balance out the window.
