Re: Upcoming PVP changes
If someone has a valid reason to kill you then they are gonna kill you. If they get rewards for doing so then woopty doo? If they don't have a valid reason for going around killing you then that's what issues are for.Cubey said:Antidas said:@Tecton what are the chances that we could also get greater rewards for killing someone? I feel like having any mark cost associated with death is rough when the only benefit that I've noticed so far from winning a pvp fight is being able to scan an INR that gives no more xp than a single mob would. How 'bout no. PvP already has a goal which is either to stroke your e-peen by showing you're better at pretend combat than the other chump or to kill enemy raiders in a cosmpiercer or something. This happens regardless of any potential rewards. You make open world PvP actually profitable and you end up with people PKing each other en masse only for personal gain.

Re: Nexus for noobs
It looks like your trigger is set up properly for the most part, but you'll want to change the 'Contains' drop-down box to 'Regular Expression'. When it's on Contains it tries to match whatever you put in the box within each line it receives, so right now it would be looking for a line that has that whole thing, including the ".*\." part. Changing it to Regular Expression will tell Nexus to interpret the .* in a way that matches your text.

Re: Scatterhome Administrators
Except stability isn't the point! If you want stable government, collect a majority of inluencial people to support it but expect a lot of push back from those who don't want to be governed. And who dictates what is stable? Who decides when it is good to stop governing and actually let people be the lawless badasses they want to be? Will those in power give it up when some one artificially decides it is time?
The other option, besides leaving for Song or CA, qould be to work within the current structure. Find a way to see past or work with this structure as is. I think the constant debate is entertaining and mostly meaningless. The quicker people see through the rhetoric, the better. For the most part, people have seen through it and are starting to see how to work the system. Which, again, is the point of the system.
What you want is for mechanical changes to the game to sate your desire to be governed. Many of the people in Scatterhome came there exactly because they don't desire to be.
In my opinion, this is some flakking beautiful daka and i don't want it to change. The chaos is great.

Re: Certain Attacks
My guess, and I'm not a game dev so I might be stupid, is that things like the windmill drones have these attacks partially as mechanics reminders for players in PvP. You get ubermurdered in Selubir, so even if you haven't been paying attention you're likely to ask on newbie "Yo, what's up with these windmill drones fellow youths? Sometimes they hit for stupidly ridiculous damage and that is wack", and then somebody kindly explains interrupts to you.
To that end it makes sense that they would actually bump up the channeling time so that you know for sure that you can interrupt them, even if it neuters the attack, because it makes it more of a teaching tool and less of a frustration gate. It should also be possible, in my opinion, to smack other mobs out of the room at will with things like bash and pushers so you can fight one at a time, and dodge these attacks in other ways like flying in case you haven't been investing your lessons wisely, but that's neither here nor there.

Re: Cuisine — No beverages?
+1. And also can we maybe make Cuisine less mechanically useless? Preferably by adding temporary statboosts to all cuisine food (scaling based on quality, ingredients, etc), and not by adding a hunger mechanic that people will resolve just by eating the cheapest NPC-sold stuff.
Reward quality! People should want to purchase that 700-mark roast instead of a 30-mark NPC hypersquare.

The only logical explanation I have for this thread is that the OP is a predictive text AI.

Re: Scatterhome Administrators
That is a description of most organizations in any game and in real life. It is called the 80/20 rule. 80% of the work is done by 20% of the group.Matlkael said:The problem with that kind of thinking (disclaimer: not a Scatterhomie) is that it will translate to a small, productive, actually-contributing section of the population that keeps Scatterhome running, with a far larger disinterested and non-contributing populace that also reaps the benefits of the productive people's hard work. It will burn those people out, and that's not something we, as a game, should want to happen.

Re: The Ideas Thread
I hate this idea with a burning passion but since people refuse to stop mucking it up over SH faction tells and are costing us people with their hours-long arguments or whatever the heck that thing today was:
Some kinda emergency quick-call that'll revoke someone's ability to send things over FT for like an hour or two and stay running for like, ten to twenty minutes. I think this is super open to abuse and really really hate the idea, but when besmirchings, oustings, and having your face forcibly removed by MULTIPLE faction members won't get someone to quit, we need something faster than the 24 hours it takes to kick 'em out. Maybe mitigate the abuse by muting the person who made the call too, I 'unno. I know FTOFF and IGNORE are a thing but some of us prefer not to use them because we like the light ribbing or actually useful information that gets sent over FT.
On that note:
Let us change our votes on a call the way we can with a referendum. Occasionally more information comes out that makes me want to change my vote, or the person proves that they actually do deserve to be ousted and some of us have already voted to oppose to give them another chance that we regret giving them.

Re: Scatterhome Administrators
You have to accept that Scatterhome may never be what you want it to be. It is never going to be what anyone wants it to be. It will be infuriating and will end up resembling the worst banana states and third world republics rules by warlords. But the other two factions should be wary of every giving them a reason to unite cos a united competent Scatterhome will go through them like a barbarian horde
What it needs is that someone to grasp power, push through laws that everyone can moan about but will grudgingly follow. What it does not need is a referendum or faction call on every thing
(including referendums about the results of other referendums).
You state what you are going to do, you gert elected. Now you have a mandate to do it. You do not need to check on every matter after that!
Strong economy and military are probably not words that people want to hear.
Strong economy = taxes and work. If someone wants to build up the economy, they are welcome to get a group together and do so, but don't assume everyone wants to
Strong military = fighting and work. If someone wants to build up a military force, they are welcome to get a group together and do so, but don't assume everyone wants to
Leaving you to do your own thing under a minimum of regulation (or at least a bunch of poorly worded laws they can work around) = happy Scatterhome

Re: Lets talk about Nanoseers abilities. Nanoseer General
I just added in a VOID POINTZERO at the front of my bashing attacks (multistrike, freeze, swarm, eyestrike) because attempting to do it doesn't cost balance if there's already a pointzero in the room, and it almost always lasts long enough to clear a room of mobs to bash.Wuff said:I only drop Pointzero once every 10 or so bashes when I remember to. It's 2 and a bit seconds before combat begins but the effort to do it just doesn't process when I have to initiate every combat with speedup and actually think about bashing due to multistrike freeze freeze swarm swarm swarm swarm being our combo.
