Re: THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR USING THE N-WORD IN STARMOURN, IRE
I think it is a little unnecessary to go from 0 - 100 with the accusations on Starmourn, and IRE, as a whole. Especially when they're so open and receptive to feedback and ensuring player's happiness as much as they can. Things like this slip through, a simple, "Hey. Is this intentional?" Would suffice. If the response is, "Yes." Then get on your tirade, by all means.
Thanks for all the work, staff, and for being so prompt in handling major issues like this.

Re: Certain Attacks
ekary said:I don't know about making it take longer than class balance, then the attacks will never hit because a simple trigger will make you stop it every time. I think they need to just lower the damage of the power hits to be more appropriate to the level. Make it hit for a percentage of max HP, say 40%. That way if you miss the interrupt due to balance, you can still survive the hit as long as you didnt let yourself get too low. I think the power hits need to have an element of danger to them still, and they should have the threat of a kill if you have bad luck.
If you die purely because of something RNG completely out of your control to handle, then it's a bad mechanic. Mobs having RNG insta kills is fine... Having those insta kills with a windup that you mechanically cannot interrupt because of it being half the channel of your attack, is a shit mechanic. Not even sure how you could argue against that, if your (general your, not literally you) idea of handling those is "let the mob hit you first" then no. Fuck out of here with that logic.
If I'm doing a raid in a game that has a 2.5s global cooldown (fuck you FF14), and I'm expected to interrupt a skill that can happen at ANY TIME throughout the fight, that has a 1s cast time... I'm going to call it a fucking awful boss, considering the "Always Be Casting" mentality when it comes to raiding/dungeons. If I only die 1/5 times, or if I die 4/5 times because of it, isn't relevant. Borderline unpreventable RNG deaths should not be a thing.
Not sure I agree with "just lowering the damage" either considering just how hard some mobs hit at higher levels. Also an issue I noticed with the windmill drones, is the fact they roam. It was pretty shitty to have one walk in while you're off bal and having both of them start channeling their nuke at the same time. Even if you interrupt one, you're gonna be knocked low and probably die before you can crash.
Pretty much sums it up.Squeakums said:Setting up a trigger to respond to a specific action is kind of what this type of game is based on anyway.

Re: Artifact Ideas
@Tye No, they were probably being supported by IRE, which makes money by credit sales. I am guessing, IRE would like for Starmourn to stand on its own feet/tentacles/treds/whatever.
Do not get me wrong, I am not all 'Hurrah! Let's add pay-to-win!' But I do realize they need artifacts/customization/credits sinks to keep the lights on long term.

Re: If your mindsim could do anything, it would...
I'm sure I'm gonna cop shit for saying this, and it's never going to happen, but...
Automatically remove/fix people who think it's cute to stutter, or speak with an overexaggerated accents. To quote Nazihk from Achaea:
'Some words, dey hard to say wif my mouf' -> Fine, whatever. I can live with that.
'Y'guild willnae support y'actions lest y'slip an' find y'self suddenly in over y'head.' -> Fuck you, get out.
'Y'guild willnae support y'actions lest y'slip an' find y'self suddenly in over y'head.' -> Fuck you, get out.
Similarly for people who litter their sentences with 'um' or '...' everywhere. Or speak like "N-no, i-it's just... I-I d-don't want t-to..."
Mindsim config to make those people talk normally pls. It's not cute, it's well past the point of cliche and overused.

No headphones or speakers where he was going, so he threw the Black Sabbath and ELO in the space trash. It was very sad.

Re: Crafting and Trade
The 10 design limit is very aggravating and really sad at the moment. Not the best place to find yourself at the end of 300+cr worth of Tradeskill investment just to notice you can't continue designing stuff.Eshe said:Apparently we are limited in only being able to have 10 designs. The syntax to expand our databanks is not working.
Could this please be lifted or fixed, @Tecton? Crafters are coming into a position where we cannot complete commissions.
Idea: Making designs Public releases them from your 10 design limit, encouraging more people to share their surplus.
Question: Does downloading and crafting a public design still show the original designer when probed? Example: Designed by BigOleDoorknob and fabricated by Regrette?
Please, please give us a fix for this cap!

Re: Artifact Ideas
You’d have a significant drop off in players. The game upon confirmation was touted as being a different pay model. I know lots of people that will retire to SM, but have no intentions of buying several thousand dollars worth of artefacts again. I know I don’t. I’d be okay with the same setup if all prices are reduced dramatically. That isn’t the case, though, as the credit prices are the same. It’s simply not financially viable for me to spend $200-300+ at a time, when I can put that money to much better use. The majority of the player base aren’t 16-22 anymore. I’m at a point in Achaea where anything I want to buy will cost me upwards of $400. SM needs to avoid the same problemsUachet said:I personally want them to do the whole gamut of artifacts (tailored for science fiction) like in their other IRE games. No reason to buy credits if there really isn't anything to look forward to purchase. I don't care if people have more artifacts than I do (Though,I have to admit very few would), nor do I care if they have a benefit greater than mine in combat from said artifacts. They earned it by buying credits that supports the game's development and paid personnel.
