News is a mess
I log in and I have to sort through 20 advertisements, 30 useless political/faction posts, and whatever else people though warranted a public post just so I can clear out the queue. We either need more channels so this garbage can be put in appropriate channels I can ignore/turn off, or we need some sort of filtering/spam system. Having the portal working would be great too. Even with the Portal now working, it's still a slog.

What if Google won the galactic fashion goggle wars of 2230 and now all fashion goggles are googles?Eshe said:
Googles to be fixed to goggles (will these interfere with Nanoseers?)

Re: Crafting and Trade
You should be able to DESIGN TYPES CUISINE/JEWELRY/FASHION in game, without having the appropriate license.

Re: Junk drop threshold
So what I'm hearing is two playstyles. One doesn't like this. The other is neutral or approves.
The one, from what Tecton is saying, has a negative impact on the in-game economy. The other does not.
Based on that, I don't think it's going anywhere, nor should it.

Re: Junk drop threshold
Well, those aren't the same thing at all. Selling things to other players doesn't create Marks - it just moves them around with no effect on the overall economy. Selling junk creates Marks out of thin air, which affects the entire economy and therefore is of concern where the other two aren't.snailbee said:I don't really see why it is okay if the money is from selling lucky drops or credits, but not okay if it is from nonstop bashing.

Re: Artifact Questions
You might get to do 4 mends in a fight. That saves you about 1s in a 2minute long fight for 1600cr.Arsentar said:The really worrysome one is the faster ww mend...
Only real mandatory one is the class heal imo.

Re: Grinding to max level
I'm only at 30 but I've had two max levels on another IRE game so I will draw on that. The further in levels I got the smaller I made my goals. Instead of a level get half a level, or just a few %. I also timeboxed it, like taking an hour, and here I already find myself doing a round till my weapon gets 10%. Music certainly helps, and I'm considering audiobooks or podcasts. Could watch something too but don't automate so much you risk getting into trouble
Also having a job helps, I can't grind non-stop weekends on any game any more but just a little while after work and before bed does the trick, and if I don't feel like it, skip days till I do feel like it again. Plus with other activities becoming more feasible you can set other goals like finding all the quests, incursions, or leveling your hacking. And well it being a multiplayer game I've also already done spontanious teaming up with people, which can be fun too.

Different folks, different strokes.
I personally find the PvE more engaging than in Aetolia (one button offense, yawn), or in Achaea (one button offense, sprinkled by supplementary effects that are on heavy cooldown or irrelevant, that has interesting synergy potential but that no one uses).
Here, I can give a wide selection of afflictions to mobs, use all my attacks, even use my instakills, to help punch above my weight and freshen things up when it gets slow. And of course, the synergy is built in too.

"actively discourages people from playing" if the only thing you want to do is bash. More power to you if you do but man you're missing out.

The only things I am missing out on while bashing are hacking and captaincy.Yalau said:"actively discourages people from playing" if the only thing you want to do is bash. More power to you if you do but man you're missing out.
You can roleplay (in person, on channels, or through tells), play politics, perform diplomacy, read news, help newbies, read the lore, come up with designs for new trade items, bargain with people off the market clan (thanks Bob), run a business, direct people, and more while simultaneously bashing. Tabbed chat exists even in the default Nexus and you can capture more than just chat channels.
People are naturally loss adverse. If I haven't finished my 4 hours of bashing for the day, then I will feel less incentive to sit around and roleplay as I will be missing out on my chance to earn money. If I have already finished my 4 hours of bashing for the day, then I may as well wait for tomorrow. If I can't log in for some time because of RL issues, I can't make up for my lost time by playing more. It turns Starmourn into a routine task that must be done every day (a chore) and a daily trade of time for money (a job).
Extra Credits did a nice youtube video on how WoW turned a negative (losing exp per a stamina system) into a bonus (gaining exp per a rested exp system) for the same net result with more player satisfaction.
