Can we talk about the Sexbot bar.

So today I was reading up on the Starship basics. On that page is a illustration showing the components of a Starship. It shows stuff like Crew Quarters, Bridge, Cargo Hold, etc. In this photo is a place called the Sexbot Bar. It's cracking me up. Is this going to be an actual thing?

  • Hahah, it can be if you want. We just added it more as an example of a free-form room that you can add to your ship!
  • I may have to just because of the image.
  • And honestly, what’s the harm in it? It’s not like robots have feelings, amirite?

That is particularly apropos as just two days ago I wrote a mindsim personality that took some inspiration from him.
  • I agree. I cannot wait.
  • Does this mean that Starmourn isn't PG-13 like other IRE MUDs?

If so, I honestly can't wait. I live for NSFW content.

  • We don't do ratings, but if we had them, Starmourn would be R.
  • I was going to say I feel like these games are the rating you play them with.
  • ... I honestly would much prefer a PG 13 game... But it's okay, if I'm not comfortable, I'll just go back to only playing Achaea. :)
  • Frankly, with all the horrific ways we'll be killing eachother, what else could it be rated?

There's a very strange, commonly American double-standard when it comes to censorship, in that graphically violent media is often consumed and distributed with much fewer moral qualms and criticism compared to even mild nudity or sexual undertones. In the words of Desmond Morris, author of The Naked Ape: A Zoologist's Study of the Human Animal, 'You can show a gun, that shoots death, but not a penis, that shoots life.'

It might just be a player culture thing or maybe even misinformation, but I have been told before that IRE games are supposed to be PG-13, for example at one point when I suggested it was weird that the city of Spinesreach in Aetolia has so many taverns/pubs/bars/wineries, but no brothel. Either way I felt the need to ask about Starmourn and I'm glad that to know it would theoretically be rated R, and that it has a sexbot bar. Because honestly, what else can we expect from a future where robots are a reality? Of course there would be a sexbot bar!

  • Violence is typically portrayed rather laxly in pg-13 media, but going off of some of the kills in achaea for example:

You can turn someone's head to stone and watch as it explodes in bits of rock and grey matter.
You can tear all of the vital fluids out of someone (And also their rib cage)
You can have someone's shadow turn their head a full 360 degrees before unceremoniously dropping them on the ground.

I don't think that stuff would be considered pg-13 :D

That's a good point. The level of explicit violence in Achaea is way past PG-13.
  • I just assume if there is going to be "A furry-porn chat room", and I'm sure there will be because this is the internet, it will be in a area I can avoid...but then again if I'm going to have a SexBot bar I should expect that kind of thing lol
